Online Application are invited for GATE 2019 examination, Admissions to Postgraduate Programs (Master's and Doctoral) with MHRD and Other Government Scholarships/ Assistant ships in Engineering / Technology / Architecture / Science are open to those who qualify in GATE. The GATE score is also used by some PSUs for the recruitment. GATE 2019 score will be valid for THREE YEARS. Examination for all the papers will be Computer Based Test.

1. Name of the Examination : Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE)

Organizing Institute : Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IIT Madras)

Eligibility Criteria for GATE 2019 : Before starting the application process, the candidate must ensure that he/she meets the educational eligibility criteria of GATE 2019.

1. Qualifying Degree : B.E / B.Tech / B.Pharma

Qualifying Degree / Examination : Bachelor's degree holders in Engineering / Technology (4 Years after 10+2 or 3 years after B.Sc. / Diploma in Engineering / Technology)

Description of Eligible Candidates : Currently in the Final year or already completed.

Year of Qualification not later than : 2019

2. Qualifying Degree : B. Arch.

Qualifying Degree / Examination : Bachelor's degree holders of Architecture (5 Years Course)

Description of Eligible Candidates : Currently in the Final year or already completed.

Year of Qualification not later than : 2019

3. Qualifying Degree : B.Sc. (Research)/ B.S

Qualifying Degree / Examination : Bachelor's degree in Science (Post-Diploma/4 years after 10+2)

Description of Eligible Candidates : Currently in the 4th year or already completed.

Year of Qualification not later than : 2019

4. Qualifying Degree : Pharma. D. (After 10+2)

Qualifying Degree / Examination : 6 Years program, consisting of internship or residency training during sixth year

Description of Eligible Candidates : Currently in the 4th/5th/6th year or already completed.

Year of Qualification not later than : 2021

5. Qualifying Degree : M. Sc./ M.A/ MCA or equivalent

Qualifying Degree / Examination : Master's degree in any branch of Science/Mathematics/Statistics/Computer Application or equivalent

Description of Eligible Candidates : Currently in the Final year or already completed.

Year of Qualification not later than : 2019

6. Qualifying Degree : Int. M.E./M.Tech. (Post B.Sc.)

Qualifying Degree / Examination : Post-BSc Integrated Master's degree programs in Engineering/Technology (4 Years program)

Description of Eligible Candidates : Currently in the 2nd/3rd/4th year or already completed.

Year of Qualification not later than : 2021

7. Qualifying Degree : Int. M.E./M.Tech. or Dual Degree (after Diploma or 10+2)

Qualifying Degree / Examination : Integrated Master's degree program or Dual Degree program in Engineering/Technology (5 Years program)

Description of Eligible Candidates : Currently in the 4th/5th year or already completed.

Year of Qualification not later than : 2020

8. Qualifying Degree : Int. M.Sc./Int. B.S-M.S

Qualifying Degree / Examination : Integrated M.Sc. or 5 Years integrated B.S-M.S program

Description of Eligible Candidates : Currently in the Final year or already completed.

Year of Qualification not later than : 2019

9. Qualifying Degree : Professional Society Examinations* (equivalent to B.E./B.Tech./B.Arch.)

Qualifying Degree / Examination : B.E./B.Tech./B.Arch. equivalent examinations of Professional Societies, recognised by MHRD/UPSC/AICTE (e.g- AMIE by Institution of Engineers-India, AMICE by the Institute of Civil Engineers- India and so on)

Description of Eligible Candidates : Completed Section A or equivalent of such professional courses

Year of Qualification not later than : NA

Candidates who have obtained / are pursuing their Qualifying degree from countries other than India :

1. Must have completed or are in the final year of their Bachelor's degree (duration : at least 4 years) in Engineering / Technology or;
2. Must have completed or are in the final year of their Post Graduate (Master's) degree (duration : at least 2 years) in any relevant subjects in science.

Note : If a Candidate is pursuing any higher degree or has already obtained a degree higher than that mentioned in the advertisement, the candidate should select the minimum required qualifying degree while filling the application form.

GATE Score is use for admission in M.Tech./Ph.D. programme in the respective institutions. And it's score is also use for Employment in various Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) and Some other Government of India Organisations have also expressed their interest to utilise GATE 2019 score for their recruitment process.

Note : GATE administration is not responsible for the admission process and for the employment opportunities. The qualified candidates must check newspapers and other reliable sources for any such information.

How to Apply : Application for GATE 2019 must be submitted ONLINE (through GOAPS website, https://appsgate.iitm.ac.in ) by paying necessary application fee. For GATE 2019, all information related to the application process will be available in the GOAPS website. And it can also be accessed from the GATE 2019 website (http://gate.iitm.ac.in). GOAPS (GATE Online Application Processing System) also Provide an Online interface to the candidate for interacting with the GATE administration. With this interface, a candidate can :

• Apply for the examination
• Upload photograph, signature and other documents like qualifying degree certificate / Certificate from the Head of the Department / Institute (in the format given in Appendix A and category certificate (SC/ST/PwD) and/or Dyslexic certificate as applicable.
• Pay the application fee through any of the electronic payment modes.
• Check the Status of the application form : Received, Under scrutiny, Accepted, Defect status, Status after rectification, Rejected with valid reasons, Admit card ready for download, etc.
• Download Admit Card.
• View his/her answers, marks and GATE score.
• Download GATE scorecard. 

GATE 2019 Application Fee :

1. For Examination Centres in India :

• Female candidates : Rs. 750/- 
• SC/ST/PwD* category candidates : Rs. 750/-
• All Other candidates : Rs. 1500/-
• *Rs. 500/- extra during the Extended Period for All Category.

2. For Examination Centres Outside India :

• Addis Ababa, Colombo, Dhaka and Kathmandu : US $ 50
• Dubai and Singapore : US $ 100
• US $ 20 extra during the Extended Period for All Countries.

GATE 2019 Examination Related Information : GATE 2019 examination will be conducted for 24 Papers (Subjects) as listed in the advertisement. A candidate can appear for only One of the 24 GATE Papers. The Examination for all the papers will be conducted in an ONLINE Computer Based Test (CBT) mode where the candidates will be shown the questions on a computer screen.

Examination Duration : All the Papers of the GATE 2019 examination will be for 3 hours duration and they consist of 65 questions for a total of 100 marks. Since the examination is an ONLINE computer based test, at the end of the stipulated time (3 hours), computer will automatically close the screen inhibiting any further action.

GATE 2019 Examination Cities (Within India or Outside India) :

• Within India : The Candidate can choose THREE cities from the list of Examination cities given in the advertisement (Table 4.3). The first and second choices must be from the same GATE zone and third choice can be from any GATE zone.
• Outside India : Addis Ababa (Ethiopia), Colombo (Sri Lanka), Dhaka (Bangladesh), Kathmandu (Nepal), Dubai (UAE) and Singapore.

• GATE 2019 Examination :  2nd, 3rd, 9th and 10th FEBRUARY 2019.
• Announcement of the result in the Online Application Portal : 16th MARCH 2019
